At Marketing Women, we are passionate about supporting women in their marketing careers. Not that everyone wants to be a Marketing Director or CEO. Some choose to move into marketing services, start their own companies, become consultants. However, we believe that many more women would stay on a corporate career path if they had access to senior female role models and mentors, and could plan their careers more effectively. Marketing Women began in 1997 when it established a mentor program for female marketing executives. The objective was to support women in the marketing profession, since it was known that women often do not leverage their networks purposefully and lack formal mentors. Since its inception, the Marketing Women Mentor Program has trained and provided mentor relationships for over 600 marketing professionals who hold a wide range of positions in the industry. Back in 1997, we expected to see far more women in positions of marketing leadership by 2010. The Global Financial Crisis not only caused our members to take stock. It also gave impetus for Marketing Women to re-assess its programs and re-design its offer. Our intention is to give women more visible role models to inspire them and expand their horizons. In 2010 we are launching our new program –The Marketing Women Career Development Mentor Program, which builds on our successful past program. It incorporates more focus on career and leadership capability development, combining one-on-one mentoring with workshop sessions and guest speaker sessions. Participants can also opt to have some profiling assessment conducted. Click here to find out more about the Career Development Mentor Program. The Association is run by a voluntary organising committee who coordinate the mentoring program and guest speaker functions. |
